University of Washington
2012
Ongoing
Bachelor's and master's regalia is provided by Oak Hall, and is made from 100% post-consumer plastic bottles. This unique manufacturing process uses less than 50% of petroleum products compared to typical regalia manufacturing, and by using recycled plastic in place of polyester carbon emissions are reduced by almost 55%. Students can also recycle these robes after graduation at the University Book Store.
Fun Facts:
For every 100 students, an average of 2,300 plastic bottles are diverted from landfills!
Made from 100% post consumer plastic bottles.
Softer to the touch than traditional polyester.
Wrinkle resistant and lightweight.
Can be recycled after graduation.
