The University of Washington’s College of the Environment was designed to foster existing and new collaborations between faculty, staff, and students interested in the interactions of the earth’s environment and human activities. By connecting some of the world’s leading educators and researchers with students, practitioners, and citizens, the College cultivates communities engaged in tackling the environmental challenges of the 21st century.
Selected areas of research include: climate and weather; sustainable forestry; urban ecology; invasive species; earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis; salmon fisheries; natural resource management; and the development of underwater observatories.
Fun Facts:
More than 600 faculty and staff work in the College to offer 450+ courses annually in 20+ degree programs, ranging from bachelor to doctoral.
