We imagine a University of Washington where sustainability is part of everyday campus life, shaping how we learn, work, and care for our communities and environment. Together, these elements illustrate the sustainable future we are working toward.
This Sustainability Action Plan (SAP) provides a shared roadmap for advancing sustainability and climate action across the University. This new strategic plan helps align UW's values with its commitment to implementing sustainability across energy, transportation, food systems, procurement, waste, land stewardship, and many other aspects of University life.
The Plan starts with our 2050 vision for sustainability, along with the guiding priorities we used to chart our path to the vision and our long-term targets. These priorities drive our more immediate actions under seven focus areas, which together make up our framework to drive the University toward a more sustainable future.
