Awareness and instruction accompany the sustainable infrastructure

Bothell Campus

Onsite composting has significantly reduced UW Bothell's waste stream. Hot composting and worm bin facilities turn coffee grounds, coffee cups, garden waste, and fruit and vegetable waste into fertile soil that is used around campus grounds. Many community groups, such as local elementary school classes, visit the worm bins to learn about composting and to receive starter kits for their classrooms.

Fun Facts:
Red Wrigglers worms are used to compost garbage
UW Bothell's composting has an impact far outside of the campus; many children visit to receive composting education and starter kits
