2020 Husky Green Award winners announced

The University of Washington has announced the 10 winners of the 2020 Husky Green Awards, as well as one Husky Green Legacy Award honoree. 

This year's winners include students, faculty, staff and groups who have demonstrated leadership, initiative and dedication to campus sustainability. This is the 11th year the Husky Green Awards have been presented by the UW Environment Stewardship Committee to recognize the individuals and groups who lead the way in sustainability at the UW.

UW named national sustainability leader

The University of Washington has received recognition as a national leader in sustainability by the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). The UW is among the top universities and earned special recognition for its sustainability work in the transportation and food & dining categories.

AASHE's 2019 Sustainable Campus Index lists the UW as the No. 2 university in transportation and No. 8 in food & dining.

UW Medicine hospitals win environmental awards

Harborview Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center received the 2019 Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth. The Top 25 Award recognizes hospitals that are leading the industry in all-around sustainability performance, demonstrating comprehensive programs and are illustrating how sustainability is entrenched in their organizational culture.

UW earns STARS Gold rating

The University of Washington has been recognized as one of the most sustainable higher education institutions in North America, according to the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS).

The UW received a gold rating, with a score of 77.18 percent. This is the third time the UW has received a gold rating, and the first time the comprehensive report covered all three UW campuses.
