On Wednesday, October 22nd, a group of six speakers from across the University of Washington came together to discuss sustainability, especially as it relates  to their personal research and projects, as part of the SustainableUW Festival. Comprised of three different UW schools (College of the Environment, Foster School of Business, and the School of Public Health), the panel focused on identifying and addressing the barriers to solving the largest issues currently affecting sustainability.

T-shirts, sweatshirts, blouses, pants, shorts, shoes, hats, scarves - come drop off anything you don't want and in return you can have whatever is donated!

Marcelo Bonta, Executive Director of Center for Diversity & the Environment, was one of several keynote speakers at the 2014 Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) conference in Portland, Oregon.

Judy Bluehorse Skelton (Nez Perce/Cherokee), Senior Instructor at Portland State University (PSU), recenlty presented at the 2014 Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) in Portland, Oregon on the topic of "Indigenous Practices for Sustainability". UW's Ride in the Rain Challenge will kick off Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the Architecture Hall Auditorium (Room 147). The kickoff event will feature the award presentation for UW's recent Gold Bicycle Friendly University award - League of American Bicyclist President Andy Clarke will talk about how universities are catalysts for the creation of bicycle-friendly communities and will present the award to UW Associate Vice President for Facilities Services Charles Kennedy.

Next week will be the University of Washington’s 2012 Sustainability Summit, the third annual event that celebrates leadership and accomplishments in environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Learn about some of the inaugural projects by students, faculty and staff using money from the student-funded Campus Sustainability Fund as part of the second annual Sustainability Summit on campus Oct. 26.
