Welcome to Week 6!

Here are some of the highlighted events for the week. All of these events and more are listed on our Sustainability Events calendar, where you can find the full details for all events and any last-minute additions. This winter and spring, UW’s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences challenged Washington state high school and undergraduate students to grab a camera and film what climate change meant to them in three minutes or less. The prize: up to $5,000 for each age group.

As we approach the halfway mark of the quarter, the weeks are filled with sustainability-focused events. Music filled Red Square as thousands of students came together to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day at the University of Washington.

"I can’t believe the event was put on for UW students," said Skyler Shane, one of the students who gathered to learn about sustainability efforts on campus. "Events like these can make a big difference for our future."

A great way to cap off your Earth Week is to join a volunteer work party, and there are plenty of options today and Saturday.

Earth Week is still in full swing! 

At 1:30 p.m. today, discover sustainability projects on campus with a bike tour by the Campus Sustainability Fund. Meet CSF at the Pronto Bike Share station at 15th Ave. and W Stevens Way NE. You can use your own bike, or try out a Pronto bike courtesy of CSF.

It's Earth Day! The main celebrations are happening from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Red Square. Student, academic and community organizations will be on hand to talk about their sustainability efforts and provide tips for environmental living. Some will have free sustainable food samples or other giveaways, while music and speakers will add to the festivities. At 1:15 p.m., the Husky Green Award ceremony will recognize and honor the top environmental leaders on campus.

If you haven't heard, Earth Day is here! Wednesday the party will fill Red Square with exhibitors, music, speakers and awards. There's also a ton of other Earth Day-related events happening this week, which you can find here.
