This spring, the UW Earth Day Committee - made up of passionate and driven students - was the driving force behind a dynamic week of programming that celebrated sustainability in all forms. Through weekly planning meetings with my supervisor Emily and coworker Kellie, we co-created interactive and educational events that raised visibility for intersectional sustainability and highlighted the importance of environmental action.

Environmental Justice Workshop on April 17

Do you know what environmental justice is, or what environmental hazards are in your community? Join the College of the Environment's Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for an Environmental Justice workshop, facilitated by Front and Centered, to examine environmental and health concerns across Washington. Discuss environmental justice and learn what you can do about it at 12 p.m.

UW Environmental Justice Conference "In-Reach before Outreach" on April 19

The 2019 Environmental Justice Conferenceorganized by the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the UW College of the Environment, will focus on issues of equity and inclusive collaboration to confront climate disruption. The theme is "In-Reach before Outreach." The main goal of this conference is to reflect on our outreach strategies and look into community-based solutions.

Earth Day is here!

It's Earth Day! The main celebrations are happening from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Red Square. Student, academic and community organizations will be on hand to talk about their sustainability efforts and provide tips for environmental living. Some will have free sustainable food samples or other giveaways, while music and speakers will add to the festivities. At 1:15 p.m., the Husky Green Award ceremony will recognize and honor the top environmental leaders on campus.
