The Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC) will be hosted by the Evergreen State College in Olympia on March 3-5, 2027. The conference is now accepting proposals for program content, speakers and sessions.

The 2027 conference theme is "The Future Starts Now: From Action to Sustainable Impact." Proposals will be accepted until October 16, 2026. See the details below or as a PDF.

North campus residents can dispose of items during Husky Neighborhood Cleanup

Husky Neighborhood Cleanup

UW students living in the North campus neighborhood can get rid of unwanted items for free during the Husky Neighborhood Cleanup. On August 27 and September 21 & 22 trucks will be on site accepting items for recycling or disposal.

A UW student Husky card will be required to drop off material. Items can be taken on those days to the median at 17th Ave NE & NE 47th St. from 1 to 5 p.m. or until the trucks are full.

Campus Race to Zero Waste (CRZW) is back again at the University of Washington! For the fourteenth year, the UW will participate in the friendly recycling, composting and waste reduction competition between colleges and universities.

CRZW starts runs February 1 and ends March 28, 2026. UW Recycling is organizing and promoting activities focused on waste reduction as part of the competition. Here are some events you can take part in:

Washington State Recycling Association offering scholarships for 2026 conference

The Washington State Recycling Association (WSRA), a statewide nonprofit committed to promoting and advancing waste reduction practices and policies in the Northwest and beyond, is now accepting applications for a scholarship to attend its annual conference. The conference will be May 4-7, 2026, at the Tulalip Resort Casino in Marysville.
