
UW Recycling is hosting a mending fair on February 19, 2026 from 1 - 4 p.m. in the MILL B52, located in McCarty Hall.
The event is open to all UW students on the Seattle campus. If you have a small rip in your clothing or need an item hemmed – you can get your items mended for free!
Menders from Seattle REconomy will be on-site to fix your item while you learn about the resources available to you as a student through the UW makerspaces. This event is first come, first served.

Examples of items accepted for repair/mending:
- Clothes
- Broken zippers
- Holes
- Popped seams
- Patches
- Hemming
- Embroidery
- Missing hooks
Not accepted:
- UW-owned property
- Large items – heavier than 12 lbs or larger than 2’x2’
- Excessively dirty items
Seattle REconomy promotes an economy of reuse and sharing through their tool libraries, classes and reuse store. Their tool library locations are in Shoreline and northeast Seattle, which is about two miles east of Northgate Station.
UW Recycling provides daily waste and recycling collection for the UW Seattle campus. Our staff also serve as contract administrators, education and outreach experts, waste diversion innovators and sustainability enthusiasts for the UW Seattle campus.
