Earth Day Intersectionality Project on April 15

The College of the Environment's Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is hosting "Intersectionality Project: UW Race & Equity / Earth Day." On April 15 in the Ethnic Cultural Center's Unity Suite at 1 - 2:30 p.m., a video featuring UW staff of color sharing their ideas on UW diversity, the environment and Earth Day from race & equity perspective will be screened.

UW Environmental Justice Conference "In-Reach before Outreach" on April 19

The 2019 Environmental Justice Conferenceorganized by the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the UW College of the Environment, will focus on issues of equity and inclusive collaboration to confront climate disruption. The theme is "In-Reach before Outreach." The main goal of this conference is to reflect on our outreach strategies and look into community-based solutions.

UW Tower sustainability film series

The UW Combined Fund Drive and UW Tower Green Team are partnering to host a monthly sustainability film series starting March 14. Each screening will feature a local environmental nonprofit who will lead a post-screening discussion. All screenings start at 12 p.m. in the UW Tower Auditorium and are free and open to all UW faculty, staff and students. Popcorn will be sold for $1 a bag to benefit the chosen nonprofit.

Washington & Oregon Higher Education Conference hosted by UW on Feb. 25-27

The University of Washington is hosting the 2019 Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC), February 25-27, 2019. This is the second annual WOHESC event, which brings together students, faculty and operational staff from campuses across the region, as well as community stakeholders, to advance sustainability in higher education.

UW Sustainability is offering University of Washington students an opportunity to receive a free registration to next month's Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC) taking place February 25-27 on the UW Seattle campus.

To apply for one of the complimentary registrations, students must fill out a short form describing why they'd like to be considered and actions they've taken for sustainability. A committee will choose the recipients based on need and demonstrated impact for sustainability.

Washington & Oregon Higher Education Conference session proposal deadline extended to Oct. 15

Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference 2019

The Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC), taking place at UW on February 25 - 27, 2019, is currently looking for session and speaker proposals. The submission deadline was recently extended to October 15 - students, faculty and staff are encouraged to submit session proposals on their sustainability work or case studies to share with people from schools across our region.

Call for session proposals for the 2019 Pac-12 Sustainability Conference

The University of Washington is hosting the 2019 Pac-12 Sustainability Conference, the first collegiate sustainabilty conference focused on integrating sustainability into college athletics and across college campuses. The Pac-12 is committed to using the power of sport to promote healthy, sustainable practices to its campus communities and among Pac-12 fans. 

The conference will be held June 25-26, 2019, and proposals for case studies, speakers and conference sessions are due Nov. 30, 2018.
