Each week, we'll highlight the top sustainability-related events across UW so you can quickly find the ones you're interested in. We also always have a full, comprehensive list of all campus sustainability events on our calendar. The UW EarthLab will be hosting a three-part quarterly public lecture and workshop series, aimed at starting a much-needed cross-disciplinary conversation on the question of "What does it mean to center equity and justice in environmental work?" This new EarthLab Salon designed to highlight expertise and leadership on this subject in the UW-wide community, especially among students. We hope to build a foundation of shared understanding, values, and language among participants and foster opportunities for a new cross-cutting community to connect and collaborate on shared interests.
This year’s Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) national conference was held in Spokane on October 28-29. Several students, staff and faculty from the University of Washington traveled east to take part in the conference as presenters and attendees, joining about 2,000 people who gathered to discuss sustainability challenges and efforts.
The UW Society for Ecological Restoration's Native Plant Nursery is hosting a Native Plant Sale this Sunday, November 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Douglas Research Conservatory at the Center for Urban Horticulture. Come out and support UW's student-run nursery by picking up plants native to our region.
Fall quarter is nearly here, and it's Dawg Daze time! Whether you're a new student on campus or returning for another year, these Dawg Daze events will give you a good introduction to sustainability efforts on campus, and some ideas on how you can get involved.

The Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC) will be March 2-4, 2020, at the University of Oregon. Submissions are now being accepted for speaker, session and case study proposals. The deadline is October 11.

Students who are getting ready to move out of residence halls or U District housing often have extra items as they pack up. UW Recycling makes it easy to keep those items out of the trash and ensure they go to someone who needs them.
UW's 2019 Earth Week events included a focus on action, equity, diversity and environmental justice. The central event was Earth Day 2019 on April 22 at the Husky Union Building.
For the first time in six years, UW Recycling held a Trash-In to determine how much compostable and recyclable material is thrown out instead of diverted from the landfill at University of Washington.
The UW Program on the Environment and the Seattle Public Library are hosting an evening with Bill McKibben on May 2 in Kane Hall 120 at 7:30 p.m. McKibben will discuss his new book, Falter.
