Ever wanted to ride an electric bike? Interested in Sustainability Jobs? Want to learn more about sustainability at the University of Washington?

The creators of JikoPower found their great idea. The team (formerly known as FireBee) won the 2015 Environmental Innovation Challenge and the 2016 UW Business Plan Competition with their product to generate sustainable energy for people without electricity.

Wednesday in the SustainableUW Festival includes a wide variety of events on campus.

Tuesday's main event is the Sustainable Exhibitor fair in the HUB Ballroom! From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., dozens of exhibitors who put sustainability first will be on Red Square to inform the UW community about their efforts. Sample sustainable snacks and enjoy entertainment on the Cultural Sustainability stage while you learn about sustainability at UW and beyond.

As we prepare for this year's SustainableUW Festival, which will take place Oct. 17-23, we are remembering last year's events. The 2015 Huskies for Humanity presentations focused on connections to the Duwamish River, including restoration efforts and art installations. One of the presentations was on the Duwamish Lighthouse:
The 2015 SustainableUW Festival celebrated sustainability across the University of Washington with many events across campus during the week-long festival.
Departments and groups across the UW hosted events throughout the week. The UW Sustainability staff wasn't able to get to every event, although we appreciate everyone who participated. The wide range of listings on the calendar serves to showcase the breadth and depth of the ongoing sustainability efforts on campus.

The centerpiece of the SustainableUW Festival, the sustainability exhibitor fair on Red Square last Wednesday gave thousands of UW students, faculty and staff a look at the sustainability efforts of organizations across the university and the community.

The SustainableUW Festival has come to an end, with two big chances to cheer on the Huskies, in athletics and sustainability!

It's been a great week of SustainableUW Festival events, and we've loved seeing everyone get involved with campus sustainability. The festival is winding down, but it's not over yet.
