Work on creative, innovative solutions to environmental problems this Fall as part of the Environmental Innovation Practicum through the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship. This weekly, two-credit seminar helps students discover how cleantech solutions are addressing pressing environmental issues, and how they can be part of those solutions.

The University of Washington has received recognition as a national leader in sustainability by the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). The UW is among the top universities and earned special recognition for its sustainability work in the transportation, food & dining, and wellbeing & work categories.

UW Medicine hospitals are leaders in sustainability - UWMC and Harborview have both been named among the 25 greenest hospitals in the country for several years in a row. The University of Washington is hosting the Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC) February 25 - 27, 2019. WOHESC is currently looking for session and speaker proposals. The submission deadline is Oct. 5, 2018 - see below for more details.

UW Program on the Environment lecturer (and Husky Green Award winner) Elizabeth Wheat sat down with UW Sustainability's Jayna Milan for the latest episode of the "In Our Nature" podcast. 

UW Athletics needs volunteers to support sustainability efforts during home football games this season, starting with the opener on September 8. 

Green Team volunteers play a major role in helping UW reach our waste diversion goal of 80%. Volunteers engage with fans to encourage sustainable practices in the stadium and in the tailgate areas. After halftime volunteers are welcome to stay and watch the rest of the game.

The University of Washington has earned a perfect score on the The Princeton Review’s Green Rating system for the eighth straight year.

The UW is one of 26 colleges and universities to be named to the Green Honor Roll with a perfect score in the 2019 rankings, out of 648 schools reviewed.

UW Civil & Environmental Engineering researchers helped Bellevue City Hall become the first Fitwel Certified government building in Puget Sound.

Harborview Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center have received 2018 Top 25 Environmental Excellence Awards from Practice Greenhealth. The Top 25 Award recognizes healthcare facilities across the country that exemplify environmental excellence and are setting the highest standards for environmental practices in healthcare.
