The Faculty Council on Campus Planning and Stewardship hosted this panel discussion on the UW’s efforts to decarbonize our operations and address climate change. The event was recorded on October 25, 2023.

As part of the University of Washington's 2021 Earth Day recognition, UW Sustainability is collecting videos showcasing how people practice sustainability in their everyday life. We want to showcase how people are connecting with sustainability in their own personal or academic life during the pandemic and beyond.

How are you practicing sustainability at home? Our recent tri-campus event brought together staff from the University of Washington's Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma campuses to talk about ways they practice sustainability, as well as hearing the experiences of our attendees. The UW Sustainability team wishes all of you a happy holiday season and best wishes for 2021. We put together a video to share a few goals and tips for sustainability in the New Year:

Together we can tackle climate change. What would it take to turn the tide?

All Washington state high school and undergraduate students can answer that question with a short film for a chance at the $4,000 prize. The UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (SEFS) and EarthLab want your submissions of films that are two-minutes or less by the April 7, 2019 deadline.

Films can be submitted by individuals or teams, and can take on any genre. The judge's pick wins $4,000 and the people's choice earns a $2,500 prize.

The University of Washington is committed to reducing paper consumption at the university and using paper made from recycled content when necessary. Learn more about why that's important with this video, featuring staff and students across UW.

This fall, Jacqueline Patterson, the director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program, came to UW to talk about the intersection of climate science and social justice, and how to work to advance equitable preservation of our environment. What does global warming sound like? UW atmospheric science graduate student Judy Twedt provides an answer in this video, which turns the measurements of atmospheric carbon dioxide over several decades into music.
