Earth Day Intersectionality Project on April 15

The College of the Environment's Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is hosting "Intersectionality Project: UW Race & Equity / Earth Day." On April 15 in the Ethnic Cultural Center's Unity Suite at 1 - 2:30 p.m., a video featuring UW staff of color sharing their ideas on UW diversity, the environment and Earth Day from race & equity perspective will be screened.

Show us how you Engage for Earth. The Earth Day 2019 event is focused on raising awareness of environmental justice and engaging with diverse forms of sustainability. The Earth Day planning committee is hosting a design contest open to all UW students, faculty, staff, and alumni which may inspire this year's Earth Day promotional materials. Applicants are encouraged to submit a poster design for the event.

Earth Day presentation: Sustainable Energy Infrastructure

Jessica Kaminsky is an Assistant Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Washington. A scholar of engineering projects and organizations, she conducts research on infrastructure for developing communities with a particular interest in topics of social sustainability. As part of the UW's Earth Day celebration, she gave a talk on how cultural values impact sustainability. Read the text below:
