Join UW Recycling for the upcoming 2019 Trash-In held on Red Square Friday, April 19, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. During this time, volunteers (a healthy mix of students, staff, and faculty) can sign up for shifts lasting one hour to sort waste collected from buildings on campus. The idea behind the event is to figure out how much compostable and recyclable material we throw away each day which could be diverted from going into a landfill. The UW Combined Fund Drive and UW Tower Green Team are partnering to host a monthly sustainability film series starting March 14. Each screening will feature a local environmental nonprofit who will lead a post-screening discussion. All screenings start at 12 p.m. in the UW Tower Auditorium and are free and open to all UW faculty, staff and students. Popcorn will be sold for $1 a bag to benefit the chosen nonprofit.

All Washington state high school and undergraduate students can answer that question with a short film for a chance at the $4,000 prize. The UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (SEFS) and EarthLab want your submissions of films that are two-minutes or less by the April 7, 2019 deadline.
