There are two volunteer opportunities at the Center for Urban Horticulture this Monday, January 17, as part of the MLK Day of Service. Anyone with proof of vaccination can volunteer with the UW Farm from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. UW students also have the chance to volunteer with the Society for Ecological Restoration's Native Plant Nursery from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.

Volunteer with the UW Farm

UW Farm MLK Day of Service posterThe UW Farm is hosting a volunteer event for the Day of Service at its Center for Urban Horticulture location, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Volunteers will help tend the land and prepare for the upcoming growing season. The UW Farm grows for production and educational purposes with a lot of the organic produce going to the UW Food Pantry.

It is an outdoor event. Proof of vaccination will be required for all volunteers, and masks must be worn. Tools and glvoes will be provided.

Volunteer with the Native Plant Nursery

Native Plant Nursery MLK Day of Service posterThe UW Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration is also holding a Day of Service volunteer event open to UW students only on Monday, January 17 from 12 to 2 p.m.

UW Husky card or other proof of vaccination is required, and masks will be worn at all times. Volunteers should bring a water bottle, and be prepared to get wet and dirty. Volunteers will l meet at the Center for Urban Horticulture outside of the Douglas Research Conservatory.
