The City of Tacoma has been recognized by Governor Jay Inslee as one of the winners of the 2015 Smart Communities Award for the creation of the Prairie Line Trail in partnership with UW Tacoma.
The Leopold Lab didn't need to implement any new practices or make changes to earn the title of "Greenest Lab" in the College of Arts and Sciences.
"We just did what we normally do," said lab manager Stephanie Zaborac-Reed.
Harborview Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center have received 2015 Top 25 Environmental Excellence Awards from Practice Greenhealth. The Top 25 Award recognizes healthcare facilities across the country that exemplify environmental excellence and are setting the highest standards for environmental practices in healthcare.

This winter and spring, UW’s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences challenged Washington state high school and undergraduate students to grab a camera and film what climate change meant to them in three minutes or less. The prize: up to $5,000 for each age group.

This spring, EcoReps Coordinator Merrick Calder and Green Greek Coordinator Kiyomi Morris both were given the opportunity to present the Excellence in Environmental Awareness awards to the top green houses in the greek community as part of the 2015 Greek Excellence Awards. The winners were Alpha Delta Pi, Kappa Delta, Sigma Kappa, and Zeta Tau Alpha.

Lab workers put in long hours in the search for data and answers, so when the Green Laboratory Certification program wanted to reward participants, coffee was a natural choice.
The Green Labs program has been delivering responsibly-grown and locally-roasted coffee from UW Husky Grind to all the labs that participated in the program in 2014 to recognize and thank them for the extra effort they've put into making their labs green.

V'Ella Warren, Senior Vice President of UW Finance & Facilities and Board of Regents Treasurer, was recently nominated in the Sustainability Hero category for the 2015 Sustainable Seattle Leadership Awards. Warren has been a champion, advocate, and sponsor of social responsbility cross campus for many years.

The SEFS contest is open to all high school and undergraduate college students in the state of Washington. Videos can be up to 3 minutes long, and can be in any format you choose: Claymation, music video, film noir mystery, ballet, stand-up comedy routine, rock opera, documentary...and everything else in between.
