Earth Week events really get going on Tuesday, leading up to Wednesday's big Earth Day celebration on Red Square.

The day's events start with a healthy living seminar with the Washington Toxics Coalition, sponsored by the Whole U and UW Combined Fund Drive at 12 p.m. in HUB room 145. Nanci Uding, grant and research specialist at WTC, will talk about some of the primary chemicals of concern for the health of people and the environment in the Puget Sound region. Register for the event here

In the afternoon, get outside with a pair of outdoor events. Earth Club will be at the Drumheller Fountain in front of the Rainier Vista Field at 3:30 p.m. and invite students to help them draw a giant picture of the Earth with chalk. You are encouraged to incorporate in the drawing something you love about this planet that you want to protect, and to pledge to do something earth-friendly.

At the same time (3:30 p.m.), the Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF) will meet at the Pronto bike sharing station at 15th Ave. NE and W Stevens Way NE for a bike tour of campus sustainability projects. You can use your own bike, or try a Pronto bike courtesy of CSF. The tour is open to all UW students, staff, and faculty.

At 4 p.m., faculty, students and staff from all UW campuses are invited to the Sustainability in the Curriculum conversation in the Cascade Room of Haggett Hall. The event will explore the question: "If the UW were to be a leader in the sustainability education, what would that look like?" Click here for more information and to RSVP.

At the end of the day, UW Bothell is hosting a screening of "Good Food," in the UW2 Commons. The movie visits producers, farmers’ markets, distributors, stores, restaurants and public officials who are developing a more sustainable food system for all.
