The ASUW Student Food Cooperative's Autumn Humble Feast is Monday, November 23, at 6 p.m. in the HUB North Ballroom. The theme for the meal will be a Pacific Northwest Thanksgiving, and the menu will feature vegan and gluten-free seasonally-inspired food, as well as a panel of local food justice organizations. Panelists will speak about their role in the food system and the importance of sustainability and locality in consumption/production practices.

EcoReps is proud to introduce the Green Husky Coalition! The Green Husky Coalition is a revision of the Green Tea Party and aims to bring environmentally focused student groups together to facilitate conversation about campus sustainability.

It's time for the annual One Thing Challenge!

The One Thing Challenge is a competition between residence hall students at UW and Washington State University to see which campus is committed to being the greenest. The school with the most participants will gain bragging rights and the ceremonial awarding of the One Thing Cup - a trophy made from recycled materials.

The UW Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration is holding a native plant sale on Sunday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the SER's nursery at the Center for Urban Horticulture. 

This year, EcoReps is unveiling the Green Greek Representative Program, a brand new outreach program aimed at increasing sustainable operations in the Greek Community. The program is currently run by Kiyomi Morris and Tali Haller, who have been working nonstop for the past couple months to create it.

EcoReps has a large presence in the UW Greek Community, and we would like to highlight chapters that are making exceptional efforts to be more sustainable. This week we'll shine the spotlight on the Sigma Kappa sorority.

We here at EcoReps hope that your first couple weeks of school have been going excellently! For those of you who have not yet heard, let us give you a little update about where we are right now. This summer we have been hard at work, overhauling our program to change our focus to project development with the aim of making the UW campus more sustainable.

Throughout October, be sure and use your reusable mug for coffee on campus. Not only will it cut consumption and waste - you'll also help UW move the national leaderboard!

During the month of October, the University of Washington is part of the national "Kill the Cup" University Challenge, a campaign to reduce waste from disposable coffee cups by promoting reusable cups. The schools which have the highest rate of reusable cup use and social awareness will earn grants for sustainability projects on campus.

Today we continue our “Meet the Ecoreps” segment with our Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, Alex Huff! Alex is from Woodinville, WA and is a Senior in the Program on the Environment here at UW. He is also a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity where he holds the position of philanthropy chair. In his free time Alex enjoys playing music and exploring the vast world around him.
