
The UW Tower Green Square Project (a Campus Sustainability Fund grant project) is recruiting for one grant-funded student worker to maintain the garden project from March-October as part of the grant implementation. This is a part-time (up to 19 hours a week) position paying $20.76/hour.
Ideal candidates are hard-working, friendly initiative-takers with a strong interest in gardening, urban food production, and making community connections. This candidate must be able to work independently with minimal oversight. Students interested in the position who may not meet all the qualifications listed are still encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities
- Gardening: 40% (up to 7 hours)
- Maintain Green Square urban garden space, including seeding, watering, mulching, pest management, harvesting, and food donations
- Plan events and recruit additional UW student and UW employee involvement for garden work parties and learning activities between spring-autumn
- Coordinate produce donations to the U District Food Bank
- Project and event management: 60% (up to 12 hours)
- Collaborate with related UW RSOs, CELE and UW Farm students to implement shared community learning activities
- Plan and coordinate crowdfunding efforts through official Together UW platform
- Represent the UW, CSF, and UW Tower in a professional manner
- Provide detailed weekly reporting of all tasks completed
- Seek and obtain additional future CSF funding for student workers in 2026
- Fulfill other tasks and duties as needed
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Demonstrated gardening experience, including, but not limited to urban farming, vegetable gardening, nursery care, permaculture design, and maintenance
- Strong organizational skills; ability to proactively manage, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks involving groups
- Strong attention to detail and ability to seek clarification as needed
- Outreach and coordination, including social media and partner communication
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Interest and ideas for expanding urban gardening on campus
- Experience with Excel spreadsheets, data analysis, materials design, and grant writing
