Welcome new (and returning) students! With Fall quarter starting, Dawg Daze has tons of events to help new students learn about campus and resources at the UW. There are many events focusing on sustainability, including campus tours and student group meetings.

North campus sustainability walking tour
Friday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m.
meet in front of the HUB by the Husky Statue
Explore a few of UW's sustainability features, from innovative buildings to secluded green space. Join UW Sustainability for a walking tour highlighting just a few reasons UW's campus is a leader in sustainability. The hour-long tour will meet at the Husky statue in front of the HUB. We'll focus on spots around north campus and finish near the Burke Museum. Hosted by UW Sustainability.
Central campus sustainability walking tour
Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2:30 p.m.
meet on the north side of Drumheller Fountain
Explore some of UW's sustainability features on central and south campus. This hour-long walking tour will meet on the north side of Drumheller Fountain and finish near the Population Health Building. Hosted by UW Sustainability.

UW Sustainability info sessions

UW Sustainability office, Gerberding Hall room B40
Join UW Sustainability to learn about some of the ways the UW is working toward a sustainable future and how you can get involved. We’ll share some sustainability tips, tell you about cool features on campus and let you know about the new Huskies for Equitable Sustainability (HuES) program. HuES will provide monthly opportunities to get in-depth information about sustainability topics, ask questions of UW staff and provide feedback on what you’d like to see happen at the University while connecting with students who share a passion for sustainability.
The UW Sustainability office is in the basement of Gerberding Hall. To find us, enter on the south side of the building across from Johnson Hall and the office is immediately at the bottom of the stairs.
Campus Sustainability Fund research info session

Join the UW Campus Sustainability Fund research team for an info session on all things UW sustainability science. See presentations about current environmental research projects/efforts, get connected with researchers, make a couple new husky friends, and get involved with groundbreaking environmental science research projects happening at UW.
Learn about campus recycling and eat pizza
Friday, Sept. 20, 12:30 p.m.

UW Recycling & Recology will discuss how to properly recycle and compost, as well as sharing a behind-the-scenes look at what happens to your recycling after it goes in the bin. Pizza and drinks will be provided for all attendees.
Climate Jeopardy with Program on Climate Change

Interested in climate science and connecting with other undergraduates studying the environment at UW? Join the UW Program on Climate Change (PCC) Undergraduate Cohort (UCo); a place for undergrads to connect with each other, grad students, faculty, resources, and the climate community in order to make climate careers more accessible. Come to this event for coffee, pastries, new friends, Jeopardy and more information on how to get involved in climate science! You can learn about how the UCo can help you on your climate science journey; sign up to join the PCC Undergraduate Cohort; and enjoy good company along the way.
Sustainable crafts and info session with EPSA

The Environmental Policy Student Association will be using recycled materials to make vision boards for the upcoming school year. With goals as big as climate justice or as small as finding your way to class, we are here to help you put those into action. The event will be a chance to get to know what EPSA is about, meet the officers, and get to know some new people. You can drop in at any time during the event.
Green Greeks community clean

Green Greeks is an environmental RSO that offers the opportunity for students to earn class credit for their work on creating a more sustainable UW and Greek Community. It is available to everyone whether you’re a member of the Greek Community or not. All students are welcome to learn more at the event.
Environmental action walking tour

meet at North Rainier Vista
The student groups Environmental Policy Student Association (EPSA) and Institutional Climate Action (ICA) will lead a guided walking tour of some of the UW’s most significant legacies of environmental action. Visit some of the most beautiful green spaces on campus, learn about the ongoing fight for clean energy, and discover how you can develop your own legacy of sustainability.
UW Surplus water bottle giveaway

Ever wonder what happens to all the stuff on campus? Any item no longer needed by the University comes to UW Surplus, where we work to get it in the hands of someone will give it a second (or third!) life. Swing by the UW Surplus Public Store on Tuesday to browse our ever-changing inventory, get unbelievable deals, and learn more about how our program contributes to sustainability on campus. Let them know you’re here for Dawg Daze and receive a free water bottle made from bamboo and recycled aluminum.
Food systems walking tour
Friday, Sept. 27, 1:30 p.m.
meet at the southeast corner of Raitt Hall
Join representatives from the Food Systems, Nutrition, and Health Major on a guided tour of campus to explore the University’s food system. Topics will include food resources, how the food system impacts nutrition and health outcomes, how we might increase sustainability, resilience, and equity across the food system, and tackling issues of food security, food justice, and food sovereignty.
