Society for Ecological Restoration work party

Monday, Jan. 20, 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

For the MLK Day of Service, the Society for Ecological Restoration - UW Chapter is hosting a volunteer work party to remove invasive English ivy from the Heron Haven site, between Drumheller Fountain and Anderson Hall. Volunteers will meet at the north side of Anderson hall at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and no experience is needed. Gloves, tools, and snacks are provided for all volunteers. From the Ground Up: Climate Impacts on our Soils

Brittany Johnson from the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences and Sarah Collier from Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences will present on the relationship between afflicted soils and food production. This seminar is the third in the Food Systems in the Age of Climate Change seminar series co-hosted by the Nutritional Sciences Program and Center for Health and the Global Environment.

Meet and Greet with Dubs at UW Surplus

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 12 - 12:30 p.m.
Plant Services Building, 4515 25th Ave NE

Join Dubs II for a meet and greet at UW Surplus! The beloved Husky Mascot will be open for petting and photos in the Plant Services Building. After his short appearance, the UW Surplus store will remain open until 6 p.m. for anyone to buy used items from UW departments and facilities. This is a rescheduled time after last week's scheduled event was canceled due to weather.

Native Plant Nursery work party

Friday, Jan. 24, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Douglas Research Conservatory (DRC) at the Center for Urban Horticulture

Looking for a fun way to end your week? The Society for Ecological Restoration's Native Plant Nursery has volunteer work parties every Friday 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. You'll get to see nursery management in practice and the behind-the-scenes to growing plants! Come learn about native plant propagation and production at our student-run nursery. Gloves, tools, and snacks are provided for all volunteers. RSVP before attending.
