The quarter might be almost over, but you can still find plenty of sustainability events happening around campus. Some of the week's highlights are listed below, and you can find out even more items happening on campus this week with our full calendar (we're always adding events as we learn about them, so the full Sustainability Events calendar is also the best place to find the most up-to-date listings and details on all events). Monday, June 1

  • Program on the Environment Capstone Symposium (Fishery Sciences lobby and room 102, 2:30 - 5:10 p.m.)
  • The Campus Sustainability Fund committee is comprised of seven graduate and undergraduate students whose role is to review project applications, allocate funds, and make any other official CSF decisions. Their final meeting of the quarter is Monday. (HUB 307, 4:30 p.m.)

Tuesday, June 2

  • The UW Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) provides recommendations for environmental policies at the University of Washington, and oversees progress towards meeting the goals of the UW Climate Action Plan. All meetings are open to the public. (Gerberding 142, 9 a.m.)
  • After this week's ESC meeting, Green Seed Fund projects will be presenting the results of their research. (Gerberding 142, 11 a.m.)
  • The Recreational Fisheries: Science, Management, and Policy class is hosting guest lecture John Kruse, writer, founder, host, and producer for Northwestern Outdoors Radio. He will be speaking on Communicating with Recreational Fishers and Other Outdoor Enthusiasts. (Fishery Sciences 102, 10:30 a.m.)
  • Surplus property from all UW departments & medical centers is sale to the public at the UW Surplus store every Tuesday! (4515 25th Ave NE, 12 - 6 p.m.)
  • If you are interested in volunteering for the UW Farm, they have regular volunteer hours every week. Tuesday’s volunteer hours are from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at the Center for Urban Horticulture location.

Wednesday, June 3

  • Professor Rob Cursor from the Department of Architecture will be speaking about "Site Work: Community Design Engagement—the Forks RAC Project". (Anderson 223, 3:30 p.m.)
  • Thinking Differently About Dirt: a lecture with David Montgomery from the department of Earth and Space Sciences. (Henry Art Gallery, 7 p.m.)

Thursday, June 4

  • Every Thursday morning the UW Farm hosts an hour of discussion and learning about various topics related to farming. This week’s topic: Planting for Pollinators (Botany Greenhouse, 8:30 a.m.)

The UW Farm is hosting its final Pizza Bake of the school year! Bring some toppings or a few dollars for donation, and enjoy farm-grown vegetables on pizzas cooked in the Farm's cob oven. (Botany Greenhouse 4 – 7 p.m.)
