Hello everyone! My name is Brianna Blanchard (she/her) and I am beyond thrilled to be joining UW Sustainability as a Student Sustainability Intern. I'm a fourth-year student majoring in Environmental Public Health at UW with an interest in environmental engineering. Having grown up in Seattle, being surrounded by the beautiful nature of Washington State inspired my career goals to engage in people-centered environmental work.
Through previous roles with the UW Office of Undergraduate Research, UW EarthLab, foundry10, and the Washington NASA Space Grant, I've had the opportunity to be involved in intersectional science communication, event planning, and accessible storytelling. I've also been overjoyed to blend my passion for art with science through a current NASA-affiliated Psyche Inspired art internship, where I've been using visual mediums to explore planetary and mission themes.
I'm extremely excited to dive deeper into UW Sustainability's many programs, collaborating with the Huskies for Equitable Sustainability RSO (HuES) and UW Athletics for the Bold Reuse cup program. I'll be supporting additional initiatives such as UW Green Offices, Green Labs, the Husky Sustainability Awards, and the UW Sustainability Blog. Overall, my goal in this role is to strengthen communication and engagement across campus by connecting students, staff, and organizations alike through creative storytelling and collaborative sustainability initiatives. Outside of work and school, I am a flute player in the UW Band and love spending my free time dancing on a hiphop team, painting, creating with clay, being outdoors, and cooking/baking.
