The University of Washington Bothell has hired a new Sustainability Coordinator!

Cassie Lubenow started working from within the Facilities Services department in early June. Cassie’s role at UW Bothell is to compliment University-wide sustainability goals by developing and implementing Bothell campus-specific sustainability strategies as well as student, campus and community engagement activities; facilitating the efforts of the Chancellors Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability; and tracking and reporting on sustainability impacts.

Before starting at UW Bothell, Cassie received her Masters degree in Sustainability from Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability. Her previous experience includes working at the Global Institute of Sustainability’s consulting group, a local government sustainability office in Boulder, Colorado, and a non-profit focused on promoting local economies. Highlighted projects from these roles include developing the Resource Innovation and Solutions Network, a collaborative group of public and private stakeholders dedicated to realizing a circular economy in the Phoenix waste system, energy efficiency program outreach, and developing a green business certification program for locally-owned businesses in the state of Arizona.

Cassie is new to the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest and excited to be able to call it her new home. In her free time she enjoys being active in the mountains, exploring all the northwest has to offer.
