Nominations for the 2015 Husky Green Awards close on March 20
Feb. 23, 2015

The Husky Green Awards recognize the top sustainability superstars at the University of Washington, but we need your help to find them!

There's less than one month left to nominate your environmental role model for a Husky Green Award. Students, faculty, and staff from any of the UW campuses are eligible, and any member of the UW community can submit a nomination before March 20, 2015

The Husky Green Awards are given annually to individuals and teams from all UW campuses who demonstrate initiative, leadership and dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Several dozen students, faculty and staff have received Husky Green Awards since the program began in 2010.

The Husky Green Awards are sponsored by the Environmental Stewardship Committee, which is responsible for guiding the UW’s Climate Action Plan goals. The awards are the only recognition program at the University which recognize a commitment to sustainability. Starting in 2013, the program created the Husky Green Legacy Award to memorialize the efforts and contributions of UW’s environmental sustainability leaders.

If you know someone who deserves the spotlight for going above and beyond with their environmental actions, show your appreciation today by nominating them for a Husky Green Award. Go to sustainability.uw.edu/hga for the nomination form and more details.

Award nomination criteria

Please note that the nomination criteria are designed to encourage participation and align with the University's commitment to practicing and promoting environmental stewardship while conducting its teaching, research, and service missions as well as its facility operations in all of its locations. Nominees need not meet all the criteria, but please identify those that apply to the candidate/team.

Leadership – Exemplary vision with developing, garnering support for and implementing a campus sustainability project.

Initiative – Efforts far above and beyond normal duties to promote campus environmental stewardship or sustainability.

Dedication – Sustained effort over time to maximize impact, including efforts to build community support and involvement through awareness and outreach activities.

Submissions are encouraged to include descriptions of measurable outcomes resulting from the nominee’s actions as well as descriptions of collaborations and efforts to engage the broader community in sustainability efforts.  Two references are required for a nomination submission.

The form and full submission information can be found at sustainability.uw.edu/hga
